Sections of the Manual
The Manual is into main groups and subgroups, and covers any previous version of the machine. Any additions or modifications which can happen at a later date are not describe in this manual. The required information can easily be found by referring to the table of contents. For reasons of clarity, some of the illustrations are presented in simplified form. Differences from the actual version are therefore possible if this adds to the clarity of the information.
This manual is written for an experienced technician. Essential tools required in performing certain service work are identified in this manual.
Information in this manual is organized in sections and sub-divided into groups.
Section 01: Covers the safety measures to be followed while repairing the engine; engine identification features, engine emission details, and engine application details.
Also covers information about fuels, lubricants, and coolants.
Section 02: Covers the repair and adjustment procedures.
Section 03: Explains the systems theory of operation.
Section 04: Covers diagnostics and provides troubleshooting procedures to find problems.
Section 05: Lists all applicable service equipment, tool, and other materials needed to complete adjustment and repair procedures.
Section 06: Contains electrical schematics, wiring harness information.
Section 07: Provides specifications, wear tolerances, torque values.
This manual contains SI Metric units of measure followed immediately by the U.S. Customary units of measure.
Most hardware on these engines are metric sized. Read each block of material completely before performing service to check for differences in procedures or specifications. Follow only the procedures that apply to the component you are working on. Component Technical Manuals (CTM): Contain information to be used as service guides for specific
components. CTMs are written as stand-alone manuals covering multiple machine applications.
